15 Free Guitar Hero 5 & World Tour DLC Songs: Why Haven't You Downloaded These?
You'd be a fool not to download these free Guitar Hero DLC songs right away.
Why? Because they're free with no catch, and it adds to your song setlist choices when you play with others online. All you need is some free space on your hard drive (Xbox 360) or SD Card (Nintendo Wii).
Every time I play someone online, I check to see which of their DLC matches mine. (Since it's rare for a random player to purchase the exact same songs as me, I like to seize the opportunity when it knocks.)
But I am always dumbfounded when I see a player with zero DLC. Why wouldn't you at least download the free ones? I can only guess they simply aren't aware of the Music Store's free DLC.
Downloading these is as simple as clicking "Music Store" from your Guitar Hero World Tour or Guitar Hero 5 main menu. The same list of songs is available for both games.

- "Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits Theme" by S.U.P.R.A.H.U.M.A.N. – ProtoShredanoid
- "Jimi" by Slightly Stoopid
- "Zakk Wylde Boss Battle" by Zakk Wylde

"Zakk Wylde Boss Battle" by Zakk Wylde"Ted Nugent Boss Battle" by Ted NugentThe Zakk Wylde Guitar Duel is a favorite of mine; it's fun to play and goes nuts at the end! |
| Neversoft Track Pack |
"Anything" by An Endless Sporadic"Electro Rock" by SwornBoth of these are pretty fun to play. "Anything" by An Endless Sporadic is the same Neversoft band that brought you the epic "Impulse" bonus song from Guitar Hero 3. If you liked Impulse, you will probably like "Anything". (But perhaps won't find it quite as epic as Impulse..) Tough purple note zigzags on Electro Rock. |
| Ferret/Metal Blade Track Pack |
"Dez Moines" by The Devil Wears Prada"Grave of Opportunity" by Unearth"On Broken Glass" by ChimaraAll 3 songs are tough, fast Metal songs. Dez Moines is the best one in my opinion. Challenging but not impossible, metal but with melody. On Broken Glass has a really fun riff to play, but the screaming vocals may be a bit over-the-top for casual players. My advice: play them all at least once. |
| Reggae Rock Track Pack |
"Jimi" by Slightly Stoopid"Sacrifice" by Expendables"Your Face" by Pepper"Jimi" is a ton of fun to play on Guitar, challenging but won't fail you. If you liked playing "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson in GH3, you will like this one. I also recommend downloading "Sacrifice" as it's fun to play on Guitar. Don't be put off by the slow start, the song takes a dramatic turn and speeds up about halfway through. |

"Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits Theme" by S.U.P.R.A.H.U.M.A.N. – ProtoShredanoid (YouTube Expert Guitar 100% FC video, or Download Free 320kbit MP3)"The Touch" by Stan BushThe GH On Tour: Modern Hits Theme is definitely one of the best free DLC on this list. It's fun to play, not repetitive, and extremely challenging. Check out the video linked above, incredibly enough GuitarHeroPhenom manages to nail the song perfectly on Guitar Hero World Tour (which has the tightest purple slider note timing of any GH game!) |
| Activision Track Pack |
"I’ll Never Know" by Hundred Reasons"Nothing All The Time" by H is Orange"The Silence is Deafening" by AwakenFree for everybody except USA Wii owners. |
Activision Track Pack Free For Everyone – Except USA Wii Owners
What? The Activision Track Pack was supposed to be free, but in the Activision Press Release (posted on GoNintendo), note their careful language:
The Activision Track Pack will be available for free on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store. The songs will also be available as singles on Wii.

As you can see, the tracks actually cost 200 Wii Points. Responses from Neversoft and Activision on the official Guitar Hero forums claimed this was a mistake that would be rectified. Nearly a month has passed since that time (along with several Music Store catalog updates) and the songs remain at 200 Wii Points.

"I have a feeling this is about as likely to be corrected, as the release of the full Death Magnetic album DLC for Nintendo Wii…"
See this is funny, because people on the GHC have seen the Death Magnetic album briefly on the Wii Music store
I saw that thread on GHC tonight. I'll publish a story on it if I can find some hard evidence. It is an extraordinary coincidence if it finally releases – out of nowhere – the night I hint at "never"
