Band Hero Song Import to Guitar Hero 5 Wii – First Photos
Band Hero song importing into Guitar Hero 5 for Nintendo Wii owners finally is available, and 5Frets.com has the first photos once again.

Delayed 24 hours later than promised by company press releases, the song pack became available in the Guitar Hero 5 Wii Music Store's "Special Offers" section slightly after 11:00 PM CST Friday night, November 6th 2009. For Europe Wii rockers, Band Hero import won't appear in the Music Store until November 13th 2009.
61 out of the 65 Band Hero songs are available for export. (See link for the song list and the 4 songs that didn't export.)
Xbox 360 song importing has been available since Thursday as promised, while PS3 owners will be last to get it; official Guitar Hero / Neversoft statement claims PS3 Band Hero imports (USA) will be available on 11/12/09.
The 61 song download package will take 13433 Blocks of your SD card storage, as you can see in the above photo of my 8GB SD Card loaded into Guitar Hero 5 Wii.
You'll need about 1.7GB free space on your SD Card if you want to store all 61 songs.
Looks like I'll need to go SDHC card shopping. Since I'm getting the code soon, I could use the extra space, concidering I'm importing GHSH & GHWT soon.
Just imported BH, it was actually a challenge (for singing, need to try the Guitar) when I first played ABC. Can't wait to play the rest of what I downloaded.
I have only downloaded about 75% of the songs from GH5. For some reason the music store was really slow and some songs took as long as almost 10 minutes to download compared to the short download time for importing band hero to GH5.
So if I download this, I have to have the Band Hero disc as well or is it basically buying the band hero game?
The only way you can download this, is if you already own Band Hero. Basically it allows you to import almost all of the song from that disc into GH5 so you don't have to disc swap to play the songs, and have a larger collection of tracks to build play lists off of/partymode.
I find that having the larger playlist is much more fun during Guitar Hero night than switching discs all the time.
Question: I imported Smash Hits / WT into GH5, and can't seem to get get song previews like I would by highlighting a song in GH5 or DLC. Is anyone else seeing this behavior and if that is the case, will there be no song preview for these tracks as well?
Rob, James is right. You need to own a Band Hero owners manual as the unique code on the back is how you unlock the disc import option.
James: unfortunately song previews do not work with DLC stored on SD card.
If you have any free space on your Wii System Memory (not very likely), you can copy them there and the previews will work. I can only guess this was a speed issue, perhaps they thought the menu would respond too slowly if it had to read every SD song when you scroll.
Crap, that kinda sucks. Wish they could update the game to include previews off the SD card, you figure if they can stream the song off the SD card, that they should be able to figure out the preview thing. I just picked up a 16gb SDHC card from Newegg for 38 bucks, and plan on scooping up Band Hero just to import the songs into GH5. I want a large song catalog!
I wonder if there will be some sort of aftermarket for selling a "used" copy of Band Hero (Wii) with no import code? Is it legal to resell the disc and keep the last page of the manual for yourself for import purposes? I assume as long as the buyer understands he/she wont be able to use the import code everything is kosher, yeah? Or should I have not said that?

Are you able to use a 16GB SD card in the Wii? When I read the manual, it said you could only use a 2GB max. This would be great news to me!!!
I use a 16gb micro SDHC with the adapter that works great. I just wish I could preview the songs since the Wii memory is so small. I hope they can figure out a fix. Sometimes you have to hear the song to know what it is.
I kept my GHWT manual when I replaced my Band Kit (now have 2 GHWT manuals, free for anyone who needs it). Maybe just use it now & give them the manual, that would be a faster solution.
No, this is downloading the songs into GH5, it's not buying the game (since it doesn't give you its new features & characters). As for the import, all you need is the BH Manual (included in BH). You can buy the actual game or obtain a manual from Blockbuster, your choice.

I'm totally new to this guitar hero land but heres my question for you. This christmas I intend to buy my kids (oldest14) Wii Band Hero with the drums n guitar. This is purely down to the song lists. My question is this.
Can I import GH5 songs to the Wii Band Hero and possibly other songs from other GH's
The reason for wanting band hero is from reviews it seems more suited to the younger kids. Its just me (dad) that wants to add a few (real older rock tracks to play along with)
Also can someone explain these codes and how the upgrade is actually done. Me was thinking I'll go to blockbuster and stick in a rental disc of GH3, Aerosmith or GH5 and copy the songs to the Wii's SD card but I think I have this all wrong.

HI Carl! ypu ccan import songs to the band hero from the gh5,qhwt and maybe the smash hits(not sure), for the upsgrade youneed a wi-fi connection and open the music store in-gamefrom there youll see something like special offers (its like that on my gh5)an from there download 2 updates and import songs from the other games,when you select one game youll be asked for the 20 digit password from that games' instruction booklet and about 500 wiipoints, once youe input it youll be able to choose which songs to download from the game(sadlyt you cant download ALL the songs that come with that disk). Now then…you cant copy and paste the songs from Aerosmith rock band etc…just import from the gh5,wt and smash hits
and…would you be interested in trading the codes of your band hero with my gh5? Anyway…you dont have to if you dont want to but i would sincerely appreciate it(and you can rent another game jaja)
